If you host a docker container for your project, please stop directing people to curl the .env and compose files from your github and just use that code block to post the content. This used to be standard practice, now instead of being directed to your githubs i’m directed to your websites and asked to download remotely from github.
I don’t download arbitrary code straight to my machine from an unexamined source, and neither should anyone else. And if I’m going to github to examine it anyways, I may as well just grab it myself. If you just post it to your site we get to skip a step, and there’s the added benefit of not having to go to github.

My digital sovereignty stack in 2026:
Laptop OS: Linux (Fedora 44)
Server OS: FreeBSD 15.1
Phone: Android 17
E-Mail: Self hosted dovecot/opensmtpd server
File storage/sync: Nextcloud (Selfhosted)
Contacts/Calendar: DAVx5 (Nextcloud backend)
Camera Roll/Photos: Immich (selfhosted)
Document storage: Paperless NGX (selfhosted)
Bookmark storage: Kollect (my own self-developed and self-hosted app)
Browser: Vivaldi (Linux, Android)
Mail-Client: Thunderbird (Linux, Android)
My phone has Google Play Services and a locked bootloader. But that's a pragmatic decision, since I rely on apps that require attestation (Banking, etc). I don't use any of the Google cloud products and host my data myself (Calendar, Contacts, Mail, Photos) in open source solutions under my sovereignty.

I built bpad — a zero-knowledge, end-to-end encrypted notes app. 🔒
Everything is encrypted in your browser (Argon2id → AES-256-GCM); the server
only ever stores ciphertext, so I literally can't read your notes.
• Installable PWA, works offline
• Biometric unlock (WebAuthn)
• Encrypted backup you can restore without an account
• No tracking, no ads
Feedback very welcome, especially on the security model.

DA: Cop covered #bodycam to snap #nude #prisoners on his iPhone—but other cams caught him
On March 31, 2026, a rather odd complaint arrived at the Bucks County, #Pennsylvania District Attorney's Office.
It came from the local sheriff's office, and it concerned one of their own, Deputy Sheriff Ryan Gaffney. The allegation was unusual: Gaffney had used his iPhone to snap photos of nude prisoners he had encountered in his job—and he had then shared those photos with "several female civilian employees inside the Sheriff's Office."
The main claim involved a local man suffering a mental health crisis on the morning of January 30, 2026. Five fully uniformed deputies had arrived at the house and were in the upstairs bedroom. Their detainee was naked from the waist down and had just been persuaded to put on some pants.

The XGS-PON SFP+ stick that runs OpenWrt internally is one of the most satisfying homelab discoveries this year.
ISP ONT boxes are black boxes with unknown firmware, closed management interfaces, and often backdoor access for the ISP. Replacing it with a module you fully control (SSH in, configure VLANs, update packages) flips the model. Your fiber terminates in YOUR hardware, not theirs.
The catch: you need to know your ISP's OLT vendor (Nokia/华为/Huawei/Adtran) and VLAN config. Get that wrong and you have no internet. But once dialed in - full control, lower latency, one less power brick.
Protect Your #Privacy with California's #DROP Tool
Are you a #California resident? Then we've got exciting news for you: there's a tool just for you that lets you take a single, relatively easy step to protect your privacy.
It's called a DROP request. (That's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, if you're fancy). This one bit of paperwork lets you tell every data broker registered in the state of California that you'd like them to delete your information from their databases and request they stop selling and sharing your information.

Eva, I'm not sure whether I believe that's a dedicaed privacy mining funnel.
After attempting to jump through all of the hoops with the crazy KYC-like requirements, including the reliance of IIRC, https://gov.com logon and not until the very end of the verification that I was who I said I was it went and required me to provide a DID (that's a phone number, for those of you who do not already know) that it liked.
I'm sorry (NOT) but there was way more than enough divulged, including my existing Gov.com creds, to believe that California was privacy mining for the sake of tracking their subjugated chattel.
Thanks, great idea and thank you also for your public service, but I don't even know if I"m going to bother to go look again - I FELT REALLY VIOLATED

"The US’s excessive demands for travellers’ profiling and surveillance in order to stay in its Visa Waiver Programme are nothing less than blackmail. The EU accepting the terms of this power struggle is extremely worrying for the rights of Europeans and any third country nationals registered in European databases.
The scheme implies systematic transfers of biometric data and other highly sensitive and subjective “indications of risk” based on European national databases to the US government, which has shown a blatant disregard for basic human rights in its harsh and inhumane treatment of migrants and visitors. In that regard, the draft text does nothing to protect from discrimination based on political opinions, which is worrying because the US is already cracking down political dissent, including its unlawful practice of screening travellers’ social media profiles. The sharing of individual risk assessments to supposedly protect “public security and public order” under the EBSP could further target opposition to the Trump administration, support to transgender people’s rights or protests against the genocide in Gaza expressed (publicly) on social media, with potentially significant impacts, including detention at the borders.
Furthermore it is very difficult to know the terms of the negotiations as the talks are shrouded in secrecy. However, in May 2026, EDRi member Statewatch leaked a “revised version” of the draft Framework Agreement, revealing the direction the future deal has taken."
Surveillance pricing is not just airline-style dynamic pricing!
It is personal data, location, shopping history, loyalty programs, and AI-driven targeting influencing the price or discount someone sees.
