Linux n'est pas compliqué.
Par contre, il y a du choix, plusieurs manières de faire. C'est une de ses grandes forces mais forcément ça perd les novices.
D'ailleurs, si on installe une Debian, les choix par défaut conviennent (généralement).
Linux à l'air plus complexe parce qu'une installation inclus l'OS, les drivers, et les applications. Idem pour les mises à jours. C'est bien plus simple qu'avec Windows.

One gripe I have about #Linux is theming inconsistancy. I love having so many choices, and to have that, I can't expect every app to use the same UI language/libraries/whatever. I accept that, happily. However, I do really wish GTK apps would just look at my Plasma settings and at least change it's gray to the color the rest of my system is. That's all I'm asking for. Plasma has settings for this, and every GTK app I've used ignores it, remaining dark gray in an ocean of dark rose.

CRITICAL LINUX KERNEL ALERT: The "RefluXFS" Flaw (CVE-2026-64600)

The Qualys Threat Research Unit has uncovered a severe, 9-year-old local privilege escalation (LPE) vulnerability in the Linux XFS filesystem.

If your enterprise relies on RHEL, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, or Amazon Linux, you need to act immediately.

What you need to know:

* The Flaw: A race condition in the XFS copy-on-write path lets unprivileged users exploit direct writes (O_DIRECT) to overwrite root files at the block layer.
* The Impact: Attackers gain persistent root access. It leaves no logs, completely bypasses SELinux (even in Enforcing mode), and survives system reboots.
* The Scope: Over 16.4 million enterprise systems are potentially exposed worldwide, particularly multi-tenant container hosts, web hosting servers, and CI/CD pipelines.

⚠️ There are no configuration workarounds.

1. Check if your XFS volumes have reflinking active: xfs_info / | grep reflink= (look for reflink=1).
2. Apply the latest backported vendor kernel updates.
3. Reboot to activate the fix, or apply live-patching solutions to avoid downtime.

I wish #Linux (and #FreeBSD) had a device /dev/memfd that, when opened, actually gives you a fresh memfd.

Then you could use memfd with shell scripts:

exec 3<>/dev/memfd
echo foo >&3
cat /dev/fd/3

It'd be like using temporary files, except they automatically get deleted when the script terminates, and aren't visible to other processes (so there's no need to securely generate a temporary file name).

I guess this could be approximated by creating and immediately deleting a temporary file:

f="$(mktemp)"
exec 3<>"$f"
rm "$f"
echo foo >&3
cat /dev/fd/3

It's not quite as clean as “just open /dev/memfd lol” and does still involve securely generating a temporary file name, though.

Also, if you're on #Linux, you might want to use `mktemp -p /dev/shm` to prevent the temporary file from being written to disk. (#FreeBSD doesn't have /dev/shm.)

Keep on experimenting with different built-in examples in #Arduino App Lab and my Arduino Uno Q.

Surprisingly all of them work and work well. @arduino surely did their homework.

Two things I've found:
1) built-in eMMC has 250 MB/sec read speed. Wow. In comparison #RaspberryPi CM4 or Pi4/Pi5 via microSD offer like 80 MB/sec.

4) Uno Q squeaks. It produces quite unpleasant high pitch noise that I hope some case or motorized camera will mask sooner rather than later 🤣

The Chuwi MiniBook X N150, One Year Later

Just pushed the final commits to the Sinty OS components and the core OS repo to trigger our first alpha build! 🚀

Currently waiting on CI to build the ISO, but considering it takes ~2h on my machine with 32GB RAM, it’ll probably choke. Might be time to buy a dedicated server for compiling future releases. 😅
