Zwei Dinge, die ich vermisse: Ich fahre sehr selten Auto (Carsharing), aber bei der letzten Fahrt habe ich Google Maps schon etwas vermisst. Die alternativen überzeugen mich noch nicht ganz. Vielleicht mache ich es so, wie @kuketzblog auf seinem Blog schreibt.

Das andere ist Google Lens, für die schnelle Bildersuche. Hat da vielleicht jemand eine gute Alternative?

Koniec ery Pixela jako jedynego wyboru

Do tej pory entuzjaści degooglingu i ochrony danych byli skazani na paradoks: aby korzystać z GrapheneOS, musieli kupować smartfony od Google (z układami Tensor i chipami Titan M), które jako jedyne spełniały rygorystyczne wymagania bezpieczeństwa projektu.

Several months ago, Motorola and the makers of GrapheneOS announced a team-up that would expand support for the privacy-centric OS to beyond Google’s Pixel phones. The announcement, however, was bereft of details. Now, the creators of the OS have taken to Mastodon (naturally) to provide an update. Moto’s GrapheneOS phones are on track to launch in 2027, but they’ll cost a pretty penny.

You should get a google Pixel and flash it with #grapheneos. You can find the full guide on their site. It explains everything very well, from the flashing to the functions.

For years, there was a strange contradiction at the heart of one of Android’s most privacy-focused alternatives: if you wanted to get away from Google’s software, you generally had to buy a Google phone.

GrapheneOS has largely been tied to the Pixel because Google’s hardware has provided the security features the project needs to build its hardened version of Android.

Now, that compromise may finally be ending.

If #Motorola comes out with a foldable phone that supports #GrapheneOS I will be there on day one. I have a #Samsung Fold 7, I'm officially pissed as they removed the ability to do an unlock on the bootloader. I only found out about this a few months ago.
Same with a Tab S8 Ultra. Fucking totally done with them on my next phone. The main reason is Android, Google, and Samsung force feeding AI shit to us in the OS. You can somewhat disable it, but its still there ready to be accidentally turned on. And then there is Google being a-holes about sideloading apps. If I wanted a walled garden I would get an iPhone.

SO BUMMED to learn that the Motorola GrapheneOS phones won't come in a budget hardware option. I broke my long-standing $150 cap on cell phone hardware (because seriously how did we all allow cell phones to become $1K+ purchases, be SERIOUS) to get my $400 Pixel 8a so I could put GrapheneOS on it, but no way can I pay four figures for a goddamn cell phone. $400 is already an insane amount of money to spend on a phone! So once they stop supporting my Pixel, I'll have to switch to one of the other privacy-forward phones. 😭💔

So, für euch getestet. #N26 blockt auf meinem #GrapheneOS neuerdings die Verifizierung. Auf einem regulären Android-Smartphone läuft der Prozess flüssig durch. Der Dienst ist somit für mich nicht mehr nutzbar. Bankwechsel... Der Ebbe ist sauer...

Właśnie poszła wiadomość do działu marketingu nowej sieci pr1v.pl z propozycją niezależnego audytu ich usług. Operator mocno promuje się jako dbający o prywatność, więc uznałem, że warto sprawdzić te deklaracje w praktyce.
