From emerging threat to top-tier ransomware-as-a-service: The evolution of INC ransomware

INC has evolved from an emerging ransomware-as-a-service operation into one of the most active groups in 2026, claiming over 800 victims since 2023. Omg omg on a lark I decided to try #Octoprint again using an old laptop I installed #Linux onto (the touchscreen flickers & breaks if you move it - restarts fine, but it became super fragile bc of this issue so I had to retire it) & I actually did it with step-by-step instructions from AI. This is so exciting I'll be able to send print jobs to my printer & monitor stuff from any device on my wifi network 🤌

I was chatting with a red teamer friend recently about Windows exploitation by process injection.
My knowledge is probably very dated compared to what is current.
I'd had a couple classes on the topic, but it wasn't an area that I show great skill in.
But, the recent dialogue had me thinking about my entire personal infrastructure is Linux and I do not have commercial enterprise endpoint detections enabled on them.
As I said, personal infrastructure.
For Exploitation.. In Windows, I'd fire up vmmap/rammap from Sysinternals and look for processes with vulnerable memory.
How do I do the same on Linux? It's all listed in /proc somewhere. Wow this lead me down a rabbit hole.
