Wonder what's better for security and privacy on #GrapheneOS to reduce background tasks

1) Gran't "Ice Box" the "Device Owner" privilege via adb
2) or to install "Island" and have all apps installed inside of the work profile instead of the regular one to then have "Ice Box" be able to control it through the special permissions that "Island" holds over the work profile.
3) Same as 2 but grant "Island" the permission to manage Mainland via adb. Avoids having to move all apps into work profile

switched from optus to vodafone, and in the process had to buy a motorola g15.

ended up degoogling the motorola g15 with lineageOS 23.2.

so, i am ready for the switch-over for when google locks down their play store.

Decided to put GrapheneOS on my old phone to test it out. I was mostly afraid of my main banking app not working, but it does! I got the app from the Aurora store as the Play store refused to install it. Other than that, no issues. My bank is Komerční banka.

I'm seriously considering putting Graphene on my new phone too and daily driving it.

Looks like my #Strava days are over. Can't login into the app on #GrapheneOS . Searching the web, I'm not alone. But I guess using an OS with privacy features and then installing Strave does not make much sense anyway.

Unter den Android-Geräten im Haus läuft die App also weder auf meinem Pixel 8, noch auf einem FP4 (/e/OS), sondern nur auf einem Samsung Galaxy Tab 10 von 2019 mit Android 11, welches seit Jahren keine Sicherheitsupdates mehr bekommen hat. <irony> Das ist sicher so gewollt, dass die wirklich sicheren Geräte ausgeschlossen werden </irony>

Haha watch out, it's a slippery slope to buying them all a Precursor device (which I think would struggle to suck up any data, other than 2.4 or 5GHz radio, that the user didn't intentionally put in it, unless they plug a handsfree mic/headphones into it).

#Wero läuft, erwartungsgemäß, nicht auf #GrapheneOS, es crasht einfach. Selbst wenn ich Exploit Protection ausschalte. (Und ja, GPS sind installiert).

@uvok Tut mir leid das du mit Wero Probleme unter #grapheneos hast. Eventuell bin ich ein glücklicher Einzelfall, bei mir läuft #wero ohne Probleme und ohne Sonderrechte. Ich habe sogar schon Überweisungen damit getätigt.

Merci pour l'article. En gros, dans les deux cas, il faut être un peu bidouilleur pour l'installation. Pour rendre ça plus accessible, existe-t-il des install party de ces OS ? Je connais plus d'une personne qui serait heureuse de passer le pas mais ne le fera jamais toute seule. Si non, ça mériterait d'être développé.

Hi friends, I need help finding a masto client that doesn't suck. When I was on iOS I used #ivory and it was fantastic, but now that I'm on #grapheneos I'm struggling to find a replacement. I have been bouncing between apps and it's frustrating.

I've been using #phanpy and #elk the most, and while I like them there are real frustrations using a PWA that I'm getting tired of. #vanadium (the grapheneos browser) doesn't actually install apps as PWAs, just as bookmarks, so push notifications don't open in the app, and links to masto don't open in app either.

What are you using and why would I want to use it too?

... might be good idea NOT to fucking run an auto update on 2% juice... even if its plugged in because charge rate < drain rate, especially when it maxes CPU and IO...
