For years, I've been using a differential backup utility that is not maintained anymore. As it keeps falling further and further behind, I think it's time to move to a different one.
So Fediverse, what is the differential backup tool of choice these days? I'm hoping for something simple that could handle backing up to an external drive at a minimum. I would consider backing up to a server, if the setup is simple.

More bad luck with trying out new distros! I managed to get Gentoo installed, but when I tried to log in to the console, I got a strange error about it not being able to create a seat? I'm not sure what I got wrong this time, so I'm going to give it another try!

France parliamentary report calls for 100% open source public procurement by 2030 and "zero Microsoft in schools." Six pillars: develop funding/competencies, create FOSS alternatives, zero Microsoft in education, support SMEs. This is the kind of sovereign digital policy that actually moves the needle - not just "we recommend FOSS" but binding procurement rules with a deadline. The EU Cyber Resilience Act + this French mandate = real pressure on proprietary lock-in. Other nations watching closely.
