            Whenever I'm exploring a new graphical environment on and , early on I like to run a "timedate test", i.e how easy is it to change the desktop clock to a non-standard format?

            I like the format `%j-%d-%H%M`:

            Results so far:

            * WMs and their taskbars: easy
            * : easy
            * : requires extension
            * : no easy way to add the `%j` that I discovered
            * : easy

            My working hypothesis is that if custom timedate is easy... harder things will be easier. And vice-versa. 🙂

                So I have an older netbook-esque laptop currently running Windows 10, and I'm sure it's not upgradeable. I've toyed with the idea of slapping on it to give it new life, but I've also been thinking about giving a go. Were I to do the latter, which BSD would the fedi recommend for an underpowered machine?

                    🐡 OpenBSD 7.9 arrives, a diamond in the rough proud of every sharp edge

                    「 It has its own X11 server, Xenocara, based on X.org 7.7 and Xserver 21.1.21, but you can also run XLibre with some manual effort, and some desktops support Wayland. There is also a downstream project to build a live bootable medium called FuguIta, although it hasn't caught up with the new release just yet 」
