Come have fun with us on Luanti JMA CTF server

              cross-posted from: realbitcoin.cash/post/334465

So many people think open source games are a no-go. But there are many good FOSS games. Luanti CTF is one of those games I really enjoy. It is based on the open source voxel game engine Luanti which has similarities with the closed source Minecraft game.

I have been playing this game since youth years. And now I also develop the game :)

              Server address: jmaminetest.mooo.com:30001

Some YT channels posting CTF vids:

Edit: See this post from rubenwardy on history of CTF. He started the game. And as he lost interest, he did a wise choice to hand it over to someone else.

Edit2: This server, and also other servers in the JMA network is strictly family friendly. Bear this in mind when playing on the server. This also means it could be a good playground for your kids, if you’ve got any :)

Yay, one of the MMORPG has put out a beta client for . Installed and tried to run, but they need to update their instructions.

                    1. APPIMAGE needs to be marked executable.

                    2. Client defaults to a fixed resolution. You may want to go into video settings and make it resizable.

I may play it again tonight and see if it saved my config changes.

The joys of testing beta software.

Just tested TLP on a ThinkCentre M920q (i5-8500T, 35W TDP) running Proxmox: idle power dropped from 18W to 12W with TLP bat mode + runtime PM on NVMe + intel_powersave governor. That is a 33% reduction. The settings that matter most:

                                1. CPU_SCALING_GOVERNOR_ON_AC=performance (when plugged in)
                                2. CPU_SCALING_GOVERNOR_ON_BAT=powersave
                                3. RUNTIME_PM_ON_BAT=auto (PCIe power management)
                                4. DISK_APM_LEVEL_ON_BAT=128 (HDD spin-down)
                                5. WiFi power_save on (offload off for latency-sensitive apps)

Combined with C6 sleep state enabled in BIOS, the box idles at 11-13W. That is barely more than a Raspberry Pi 5 with 3x the compute. SFF/NUC + TLP is the sweet spot for 24/7 homelab.
