A newly disclosed Linux kernel vulnerability called Bad Epoll lets an unprivileged local user gain root access on affected Linux systems and Android devices.

The flaw is notable because it exists in the same kernel code where Anthropic's AI model Mythos previously found a different vulnerability, but missed this one. A patch is available, and affected systems should be updated.

SONOFF sent us a sample of the NSPanel Pro Gen2 Smart Home control panel for review. It’s a standard 86-type controller powered by a Rockchip RK3326-S SoC, equipped with 2GB RAM and 32GB eMMC flash storage, a 3.95-inch touchscreen display, and a 2-channel relay supporting up to 10A. The Android device supports dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE, Zigbee 3.0, and Matter, and also includes a built-in 1.5W speaker and microphone for two-way audio.  It’s an update to the NSPanel Pro we reviewed in 2024. Iran-Nexus Disseminates MarkiRAT Surveillance Tool

TAG-182, an Iran-nexus threat cluster, is conducting surveillance operations targeting Iranian citizens both domestically and abroad using MarkiRAT malware. The group distributes fake Android applications masquerading as VPN services and media players through social media platforms, particularly Instagram. Following Iran's partial internet restoration in May 2026 after an 88-day shutdown, these surveillance activities have intensified as Iranian security apparatus seeks to monitor perceived dissidents and anti-government activists. MarkiRAT samples demonstrate tradecraft overlaps with previously documented Ferocious Kitten operations, including use of Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS). The group operates infrastructure across multiple autonomous systems, utilizing domains with naming conventions mimicking legitimate services like Microsoft, Google, and Facebook.
