Permissions are the backbone of Linux security. Know these cold:
Add a user to a group: usermod -aG groupname username
Check what groups a user belongs to: groups username
Change file ownership: chown user:group filename
"Just chmod 777 it" is not a permissions strategy. It's a cry for help.
