@aeva I emphatically agree, I think that this policy should eventually extend to all forms of verifying something isn't generated by AI. If we don't find decentralised private ways to determine reality for ourselves then governments will be more than happy to give us permanent digital id

            ‼️New blog post by me‼️
            "Against Pessimism"

            > I know that it feels wrong to celebrate a small victory when so much else wrong is going on, but I promise you we won't be able to make it to the end if this is our outlook on life. If everything is terrible and nothing good ever happens or is talked about, then why should we even fight for the next victory?

            ...

            > Nearly every single time I see one of their blog posts shared around on social media where they celebrated a victory they've made, there's always somebody in the comments complaining about how it didn't go far enough, that we still haven't done enough. And they're right in a sense — we do still need to keep going, keep fighting. This victory alone is only a step along the path! But why do you feel it is important to share that right now? Why must we pollute every victory with some sense of additional fear and worry?

OpenLogi is an early-stage open-source alternative to Logitech Options+ focused on privacy and local control.

It lets you customize Logitech devices without accounts, telemetry, or cloud dependencies.

Currently macOS-only and still under active development, but a promising option for users who want more control over their peripherals.

In October 2025, @eff warned the public that Flock was rolling out a new feature called “#DistressDetection ” that would be deployed through their acoustic gunshot detection devices (formerly known as , now called ). This feature purported to use high-powered scattered throughout a city to search for sounds of human distress, with original advertisements from the product indicating it would search for “#screaming.” (Since the publication of our original blog post, Flock quietly amended the ad on this webpage to say “distress” instead of “screaming.”)
