Auch mit dem #Shiftphone bleibt die Zukunft von #FDroid und #Aurora ungewiss. Bin weiterhin unentschlossen und habe einen Buy-Ponit für Sonntag!

Catima 2.44.0 is out!

#Catima is a lightweight card wallet app for #Android.

Release 2.43.0 added an internal image viewer, which has been requested for a long time.

Sadly, this broke someone's workflow (they were storing screenshots in Catima to deal with stores which only accept "the official app" 🙄)

So, 2.44.0 includes a menu option to open the image in the gallery app.

Coming soon to an app store near you!

I was starting to look at the #Commodore phone until I saw that their launcher looked like some of the super-minimalist launchers I've seen on #Android from #FDroid, so I just started experimenting with that, instead.

Currently on "Last Launcher," but I have a couple others installed to play with.

I was on #KISSLauncher for the longest time, but they seem to have a lenient AI policy now, and I'm avoiding that kind of stuff whereever I can afford to.

With so much malware on Google Play, I only get an app from there when it's absolutely necessary.

@eteryu #Google already gatekeeps targedSdk, each new Android will block older "unsecure". Today about 33% of apps in the #FDroid repo are built reproducible signed by the developers. F-Droid & Basic clients can update unattended on Android 12+ since early 2024. Apps are sandboxed by your Android, we function as a "package manager for #Android". We have some checks in place, but true, we can't check billions of line of code (half by AI now 🙃). We trust the devs, but we also verify, is that bad?

To elegancki katalog aplikacji FOSS, który pobiera pakiety APK bezpośrednio z wydań na GitHubie czy Codebergu, z pominięciem centralnych pośredników F-Droida. Zapewnia wygodne przeglądanie według kategorii, auto-aktualizacje i weryfikację podpisów deweloperów u źródła. Ma też świetną funkcję importu listy z Obtainium, więc idealnie sprawdza się jako narzędzie do odkrywania nowego oprogramowania.

Jeśli zależy Wam na maksymalnym bezpieczeństwie i zasadzie Zero Trust, moim pierwszym i najbardziej polecanym wyborem pozostaje duet Obtainium + App Verifier. Komi Store traktujcie po prostu jako kompromis wygody.

There are three ways to get #Fedilab beta releases:

- The beta channel on Google Play, by opting in from the app description
- #FDroid through our custom repo https://fdroid.fedilab.app
- The APK attached to the release notes

PS: all these APKs are signed by me. If you have an F-Droid version, you first need to export your data in settings, remove the app (due to the signature mismatch), install, then import your previous data from the login page. Everything will be restored immediately.
