Filed two more extensions for ejabberd to my ongoing project at NLnet. Fingers crossed!

Plan is to add support for Reporting Account Affiliations (XEP-0489) like prosody does, plus a system for account signups that sits on top of mod_invites and asks for email (or later phone number) for verification. The process could either be automatic or manual approval by an admin. That information could later be used for automatic password recovery.

Good? Bad? What do you think?

              That was fast!

On 2026-07-02, I opened a feature request for to support syntax highlighting for code snippets like and .

              codeberg.org/emacs-jabber/emac

On the same day, developers agreed in the group chat, that it was easy to implement in the same way as does it.

              jabber-el@conference.hmm.st?jo

On 2026-07-05, the feature has been committed to git master by Thanos Apollo.

              Thanks!

                    @Em0nM4stodon precisely that!
And it's not as if there ain't options anymore:

                    We're in 2026, @tails / @tails_live was never easier to use and setup, @torproject got more battle-hardened with countless options ranging from IRC & XMPP+OMEMO ( i.e. monocles chat), to Zulip, RocketChat, PGP/MIME (i.e. @delta & @thunderbird ) & OnionShare (by @micahflee ) …

                    • Also stuff got easier than ever before, thanks to over a decade of documentation made for @cryptoparty@mastodon.earth / @cryptoparty@mastodon.social and countless tutorials in any form.
                      • And those that still need some help & hands-on I'll gladly help setting up their own private infrastructure for a fee… Like setting up said systems as OnionService over Tor!

More folks need to take ComSec serious before they get criminalized like Russian Opposition Figures…

                      Back to top - More...
