Das physikalische Netzwerk und Mikrotik…

Ich werde immer wieder gefragt was ich denn verwenden würde, um eine funktionierende #opensource Umgebung zu installieren. Natürlich gibt es immer wieder Unterschiede, aber es gibt eben auch grundlegende Produkte, die in einer #IT Umgebung immer wieder eingesetzt werden. Diese will ich hier beschreiben.
Alles beginnt mit dem physikalischen Netzwerk, also den Kabeln. Ich bevorzuge in den Stockwerken Kupfer und zwischen den Stockwerken eine redundante Glasfaser Verkabelung. Kabel zu ziehen ist keine tolle Aufgabe, aber um eine ordentliche Basis zu haben, ist es notwendig. Um später die Infrastruktur nutzen zu können werden Netzwerkdosen wie Patchfelder beschriftet und dokumentiert.

Ist dieser Teil abgeschlossen kommen die Netzwerk-Geräte. Ich realisiere Netzwerke auf Basis von #MikroTik Geräten. Warum will ich an der Stelle erklären. Bevor ich zu MikroTik kam nutzte ich die Standard-Hersteller. Firewall, Router, Switch, Accesspoint – Jedes Gerät eine andere Oberfläche, selbst bei neueren Produkten des selben Herstellers wechselten die Oberflächen, was ich einfach als sehr nervig empfand und deswegen nach einem Hersteller suchte mit dem ich all diese Konfigurationen in einer Oberfläche machen konnte. Bei MikroTik ist das der Fall und da ich europäische Produkte nutzen wollte und Ubiquiti damals ausschließlich über die Cloud zu konfigurieren war fiel meine Wahl auf MikroTik.

Die WinBox war gewöhnungsbedürftig und die Art und Weise, wie Geräte zu konfigurieren sind, machte mir Anfangs Schwierigkeiten. Allerdings habe ich mich daran gewöhnt, und heute habe ich meine Installationsroutinen mit Konfigurationsdateien, um mit sehr überschaubaren Zeitansätzen Standards auf verschiedenen Geräten zu realisieren.

Deswegen verwende ich in heute für alle Bereiche des Netzwerkes Mikrotik-Geräte. Es gibt somit Standard-Konfigurationen für Firewalls, Infrastruktur-, wie Stockwerk-Switches, einer zentralen WLAN-Verwaltung und den dazu gehörenden Accesspoints. Diese grundlegenden Scripte ermöglichen es mir, in wenigen Minuten Standard-Geräte bei Kunden zur Verfügung zu stellen. Für weitere Konfigurationen wie Netzwerk-Segmentierungen, oder vielleicht redundante Konfigurationen, gibt es weiterführende Scripte, so das sinnvoll ist, denn bei kleinen Umgebungen ist das schneller zusammenkonfiguriert als gescriptet und bei umfassenderen Umgebungen machen Lösungen, wie Ansible deutlich mehr Sinn, denn damit ist dann auch gleich ein Teil der Dokumentation erledigt.

Durch Netzwerksegmente erreiche ich mehr Sicherheit, denn Server, Speicher, die technische Verwaltung und die Arbeitsumgebung sind voneinander getrennt. Somit schaffe ich Hürden für Angreifer und erhöhe damit die Sicherheit im Netzwerk, was gerade in der heutigen Zeit, auch für kleine Firmen, erstrebenswert ist und kaum Mehrkosten verursacht.
