Modul în care distribuțiile de tip LTS (Long-Term Support) gestionează pachetele software învechite, branding-ul și asistența tehnică.🔍 Care este originea conflictului?Totul a început ca o discuție pe platforma GitLab. Dezvoltatorul GNOME s-a plâns de faptul că Linux Mint livrează către utilizatori versiuni foarte vechi, modificate și neacualizate de GNOME Calendar. Problema pentru GNOME: Utilizatorii Linux Mint care întâmpină bug-uri în aceste versiuni vechi deschid tichete de suport direct pe serverele GNOME. Dezvoltatorii upstream (principali) își pierd astfel timpul investigând erori care au fost deja reparate cu ani în urmă în versiunile noi sau care sunt cauzate de patch-urile specifice aplicate de Mint. Solicitarea GNOME: Rana a cerut explicit echipei Linux Mint fie să elimine complet aplicația din depozite, fie să schimbe numele și pictograma aplicației (rebranding) și să elimine orice link care trimite utilizatorii către suportul oficial GNOME. Aceștia vor ca aplicația să nu mai poarte numele de „GNOME Calendar” dacă nu reflectă experiența oficială. 🛡️ Poziția Linux Mint Clement Lefebvre (liderul proiectului Linux Mint) a răspuns și, în cele din urmă, a închis tichetul de pe GitLab.
