We need to get back to the UNIX philosophy of SMALL apps, because SMALL = EASY TO MAINTAIN AND KEEP ALIVE , you can have a web of apps but if they are all small its easy for someone to take over, its easy to keep them alive, or even make a new version in a new language to replace them (what RUSTACEANS are doing with terminal apps right now).

The big monolith apps ARE the [security/privacy/data ownership] problem.

If you have some kind of device running #Android with keyboard+mouse input, you too will likely enjoy the changes as you should be able to likewise disable all touch-specific code too! The Android version still has some compiled out code for desktop-y concepts like window handling so your mileage may vary however.

...I'm also not sure how commonplace it is to have an Android device with non-touchscreen input. If you're on Chrome OS our typical recommendation is to install Principia inside of the Crostini Linux container. Or do as I did, flash the bootloader with Coreboot and install regular Linux onto it!

Instead, the collective value of creativity that benefits non-expressive uses (training AI models or downstream monetisation of generated AI content) should be recognised and remunerated through an area of law more suited to valuing collective expressive, namely cultural heritage."
